Role: VP Technology, Experience Design

Hired to lead a team responsible for design at Kin, create a top quality experience for our customers, and be the voice for our customers backed by extensive design research, planning and delivery. From owning the Kin brand to being the ultimate advocate for the customer, shaping the customer journey across all facets of business.

  • Partners with leadership in marketing, product management and development to communicate and ideate goals to enhance the user’s experience and ensure those ideas are created and implemented
  • Establish KPIs for defining the relationship with customers
  • Responsible for nurturing career goals for each team member, maximize team growth and collaboration, serve as a mentor, and promote and foster additional skills of each team member
  • Implement our design vision and principles that can be applied across all aspects of the product
  • Ideate innovative new products and features with internal stakeholders based on customer research
  • Ensure a consistent, delightful experience across the entire customer journey from marketing to purchase to servicing, regardless of channel

Berkadia

Role: Head of Product Design

Building a global product design and brand team from the ground up. Hire and lead over 30 brand, design and research professionals, attracting and growing world-class talent and be accountable for the development of team members by empowering them to set and achieve clear goals with the objective to:

  • create a unified design vision to build best in class products
  • build a holistic design system to achieve consistency and efficiency across product teams
  • evolve Berkadia’s brand identity and guidelines in alignment with the design system that achieves visual harmony and a consistent voice to create impactful, relevant brand expressions
  • implement guidelines, tools, standards, principles, processes and methodologies required to scale and operationalize design across Berkadia, and to
  • drive the execution of the design strategy across product teams and define metrics for success

As part of digital transformation, employ design thinking and lean methodologies in an agile environment as guiding principles to work with users, clients, partners, product managers, engineers, business, and other constituents across Berkadia and its ecosystem.

Role: Head of User Experience and Design

X1 Platform Engineering Operations, xTools. Act as an user advocate and servant leader in strategy and design for an innovation team with a portfolio of 10 data driven, complex digital products in IP video and internet troubleshooting, configuration and automation, owning the overall design operations and experience strategy.

  • Grow and manage a team of designers and researchers working on multiple products that focus on outcome and delivers value to syndication partners, internal business units, and corporate groups across the organization
  • Establish an evidence-based, human centered design practice and define a sustainable design system across multiple agile product teams

CareGoals

Role: Cofounder

  • Lead design and strategy to create an innovative transformative clinical decision support tool designed to enhance end of life decision-making and help patients engage medical practitioners in conversations of life matters shaped by wellness, aging, transitioning to illness, and sharing health decisions
  • Manages an iterative, evidence-based design process for research, prototyping, usability testing, analysis, synthesis and revision
  • Evolves brand definition which provides direction for social media and marketing strategy

Caregoals is a platform that tracks milestones of aging and facilitates Advance Care Planning (ACP) conversations. Our software includes a clinical decision support tool for reimbursement under the new 2016 ACP CMS CPT codes in tandem with Annual Wellness Visits (AWV) and Chronic Care Management (CCM). The goal is to create an efficient clinical workflow for physicians to engage patients earlier in the care continuum through a goal-based framework for education, sensemaking, values clarification and decision-making. Caregoals improves the patient experience of care; improves the quality of the end of life episode; and reduces the cost of dying.

Project: PROGRESS (Prostate Cancer Online Guide & Resources for Electronic Survivorship Service) is theoretically based on the team's Cognitive-Social Health Information Processing Model for men who have completed prostate cancer treatment within the last year. Designed to promote adaptive coping, as well as physical and emotional function, among prostate cancer patients as they transition from active treatment to survivorship.

I love learning. My formal education began with the pursuit of a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University in Communication Arts and continued with a B.A. in Studio Arts from San Francisico State University. Finally, wrapping up with an M.F.A. from Pratt Institute in Interactive Arts.

I love to diverge from the clean world of digital design and move paint around on canvas. It is an intrinsic passion for me that indulges all my senses. Theory of symbols, metaphor, color, light, perspective and perception render ideas that transverse medium.

I love the ebb and flow of people in different places. My interest in ethnography and anthropology as applied to design is inspired by exploring foreign countries and living diverse geographic regions here in the US.

I love exploring ideas and experiences. I am a perpetual student. Things like the arts, code, technology, quantum theory, zen philosophy, behavioral psychology, consciousness research, mindfulness, yoga and scuba diving keep me engaged and thinking.
